CSMU Welcomes Students from Kobe International University for Overseas Clinical Observation Program

Chung Shan Medical University (CSMU) and a partner university in Japan began discussions on academic collaboration in 2018, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, student exchange visits have taken place in 2019, 2023, 2024, and 2025, marking the fourth time that students have been selected to participate in an overseas observation program at CSMU.
From September 7 to September 12, 2025, a faculty-led overseas training group from Kobe International University visited CSMU for a six-day academic exchange and clinical observation program. The visit continued the long-standing collaboration between the two institutions and aimed to strengthen professional learning and cross-cultural exchange.
During the program, visiting students participated in academic activities within the Department of Physical Therapy, gained an overview of professional curricula, and took part in clinical observation sessions at the CSMU affiliated hospital. The program also included lunch exchanges with student association members and a one-day cultural visit in central Taiwan, accompanied by local student buddies, to enhance mutual understanding beyond the classroom.
With the support of digital tools and peer assistance, students from both countries were able to overcome language barriers and communicate effectively. Building on the connections formed during visits in 2024 and 2025, students from Kobe International University also had opportunities to interact with visiting peers from another Japanese university during their stay in Taiwan, further enriching the learning experience.
CSMU extends sincere appreciation to the student buddies for their warm hospitality and thoughtful support throughout the exchange. The program not only enhanced professional learning in the field of physical therapy, but also fostered meaningful friendships and lasting memories among participating students, demonstrating the value of sustained international academic collaboration.
