II.Shopping Places near CSMU

Taichung is located in the center of Taiwan. The temperature and humidity is moderate in Taichung throughout the year. For weekly forecasts, you can check the Central Weather Bureau's website at http://www.cwb.gov.tw/eng/index.htm.

Suitable clothes for summer are short-sleeve shirts, shorts, and lightweight skirts. Occasionally, a light jacket is needed. In the winter, the temperature can drop to below 10 degrees centigrade during storms. Aside from that, a mediumweight coat is needed for outdoors and some long sleeve shirts, sweaters, and pairs of pants are necessary for indoors. Many buildings do not have heating systems. (I) School Housing Information:

1. Dentistry Female Student Housing: walking from the school, it can be reached in 3 minutes
2. Daching (Daqing) Housing: from the school on Wenshin (Wenxin) South Road, take Bus No. 53 or No. 73 - get off at the Gaugong (Gaogong) station (Taichung Industrial High School).

(II) Off-Campus Rental Information

(I) Post Office

Taiwan’s post offices combine both postal business and banking services. One can open a post office account with the following documents: (1) Alien Resident Certificate (ARC), (2) valid passport, (3) personal seal/chop (with your name in Chinese), (4) NT$10, and (5) a completed form (students who are over 20 years old must bring a student ID or a proof of registration). You can receive an ATM Card and a bankbook after you successfully open a bank account.

 (II) Telecommunication Service

Taiwan’s country code is “886.” When you make a phone call to your country with Chunghwa Telecom, dial “019” or “009” and then your country’s code, area code, and finally the local phone number, respectively. The most economical way to make an international phone call is to purchase an “E-Call Card.” You can receive a 30 percent discount during your phone call. How to use it? (1) Dial a toll-free number: 0800-080-180, (2) Select a language: Chinese, English, Thai, Indonesian, or Vietnamese, and (3) Dial your card number, pass word, your country’s code, area code, and finally the local phone number, respectively.

 (III) Electricity

Taiwan’s voltage is 110 volts, with a frequency of 60 Hz. Air conditioner  voltage is 220 volts. Plug Types A and B can be used in Taiwan.

Chung Shan Medical University is close to the Taichung Station of (THSR). You can book a same day round trip to Taipei or Kaohsiung. In Taichung Station, there are city buses or free shuttle buses to our school which is very convenient to visitors.

Chung Shan Medical University is close to the Daqing station and Taichung Station of (TRA). Although TRA travels slower than THSR, there are more stops among each place. You can also take a local train from Daqing station and Taichung Station. In addition, Daqing station is within walking distance which is very convenient to students.

VII. Student Complaint Handling

      (I) General Complaint:

1. Contact Window: Office of Student Affairs (Mental Health Center at the basement of the Research Building)

2. Purpose: To ensure students’ right in learning and education and to promote a harmonious campus environment.

3. Scope of Complaint: A CSMU student who believes that he or she is mistreated for any cause or there may be an illegal treatment that harms his or her interest. Also student organizations or student government may file a complaint for the same cause through procedure.

4. Student Complaint Handling Procedure: A student or a student organization should officially file a complaint within 10 days after he or she receives the punishment. No complaint will be handled after the due day.
